Empirical Educational Research
The central goals of empirical educational research are to explore and advance teaching and learning processes. With its findings, it creates a secure basis for decisions on education policy and school life. The Centre for Empirical Educational Research (ZeB) is one of the central scientific facilities of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) and coordinates the work of the Main Research Area of Empirical Educational Research.
For scientists at the University conducting empirical research in school and non-school education, the ZeB is a platform on which to discuss shared issues and enter into cooperation. One of the ZeB’s priorities is to assist fundraising efforts and support junior researchers. Around 50 researchers working on the didactics of subjects such as biology, chemistry, German, mathematics, physics, general studies, social sciences and technology, and colleagues from Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering and Political Science are members of the ZeB and collaborate on research projects with an educational focus. In this way, the ZeB networks eleven faculties at the University of Duisburg-Essen to support and advance education through educational research.
