Cooperation and International Projects

At the UDE, the Centre is a central pillar of the main research area on transformation of contemporary societies. In addition to its links to the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities, it works closely with the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF), the Interdisciplinary Centre for Integration and Migration Research (InZentIM) and the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities, Essen (KWI). Internationally, there are close working relationships, mostly resulting from fellowships at the Centre, with the School of Global Studies at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), the University of Portsmouth (UK) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Netherlands). Among the non-university cooperation partners are the German Development Institute (DIE/GDI), the Institute for Environment and Human Security of the United Nations University (UNU-EHS), the Development and Peace Foundation (sef:), and additionally, the Volkshochschule Duisburg, the Landesarchiv NRW and the cultural festival Duisburger Akzente.
