Research at IN-EAST – Meeting East Asia’s Growing Geopolitical Impact

IN-EAST undertakes discipline-based area s­tudies by applying political, economic and ­sociological theories and research perspectives to East Asia and its constituent countries and combines these approaches in cross-cutting ­interdisciplinary projects. The Institute of East Asian Studies aims to contribute to the ­understanding of ­developments in the modern societies of East Asia, their international ­relations and their growing impact in the world. The Institute ­cooperates with partners across the UDE, linking social sciences, ­economics, and humanities as well as the ­technical and natural sciences in its research projects.

The Institute’s postdoctoral and PhD ­programmes and its research-led teaching in the ­Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes combine ­top-level research and higher education.
