Since the winter semester of 2008/09, the University of Duisburg-Essen has been offering a Master's programme in NanoEngineering. The study programme is interdisciplinary and includes courses in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, and chemistry. The programme is subdivided into different areas of focus: nanoprocess technology and nanooptoelectronics/nanoelectronics. Students attend general courses together and then proceed to more in-depth lectures depending on their chosen direction. The programme prepares them for the application and further development of scientific methods in relation to complex issues in nanotechnology.
