The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises four institutes: the Institute of Sociology and the Institute of Political Science are among the largest university institutes in their respective disciplines in Germany. They are supplemented by two social-science research institutes: the Institute for Work, Skills and Training (IAQ) is known for its internationally renowned studies on work and education. The Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) is the only German research institute working on issues at the intersection between peace and development. All four institutes are research intensive and closely interconnected through various research activities.
