Mercator School of Management
From its origins as an application-oriented faculty within the former comprehensive university of Duisburg, the MSM has become increasingly research active in the course of the past 30 years. In addition to the long-standing collaborations and projects with the business world that are an integral part of any applied science, excellent publications and challenging third-party funded research are the major current objectives at the MSM. In relation to its history and resources, the faculty has been able to achieve outstanding results in research rankings in recent years, and its task now is to consolidate this high level of performance in the future.
In the recent past, the field of Logistics and Traffic Management has become a major research focus within the MSM. This development has been largely attributable to the chair of Professor Kimms, who also holds the position of Director of the Centre for Logistics and Traffic (ZLV), and the other chairs of the Department of Technology and Operations Management. Logistics and Traffic Management is also part of the UDE’s Main Research Area of “Urban Systems”.
The MSM intends to further strengthen this area but also establish a further research focus in the future.
