Awards and Distinctions
Prof. Karen Shire, Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Institute of Global Leadership, Ochanomizu University, Japan (2016–2018), was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in 2019. In the same year, Prof. Ute Klammer was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, 1st Class, for her manifold commitment in scientific policy advice, especially for gender equality and for the further development of old-age provision. Prof. Patricia Plummer can look back on two international visiting professorships at the Department of Modern History, Politics and International Relations of Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and at the Moore Institute of the National University of Ireland in Galway in 2019. Prof Miriam Rehm won the Kurt Rothschild Award for Economic Journalism and Research 2018 of the Karl-Renner-Institute, Vienna. Aylin Karabulut, M.A., received the Augsburg Science Award for Intercultural Studies (Advancement Award) in 2019 for her research on experiences of discrimination by schoolchildren. Dr. Heike Mauer was awarded the Science Prize for Gender Research 2019 by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia for her work in the political and social sciences. PD Dr. Andrea Kindler-Röhrborn served on the jury for the BIH Excellence Award for Sex and Gender Aspects in Health Research 2019.
