Chemistry

Since its foundation, the Faculty of Chemistry has enjoyed a good network of international connections. In addition to the numerous lectures by professors at international conferences, young scientists are also supported (including financially) to spend a period of time abroad. Bachelor and Master theses in Water Science are traditionally often undertaken abroad – not only in Europe, but also in countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa or China. Doctoral students receive financial support to present their results at conferences in other countries. Every year, more than 30 foreign scientists – exchange students, postdoctoral researchers or guest professors, including Humboldt professors – are guests of the Faculty. Within the framework of the annual Bruno Werdelmann Lecture (sponsored by the Bruno Werdelmann Foundation), the Faculty also invites high-level national and international scientists to guest lectures. The DFG Research Training Group 902 works in close
collaboration with a graduate school in Finland, which involves a regular exchange of doctoral students between the participating universities.
