- In September 2009, Prof. Eckhard Schollmayer was awarded the Edmund Nekanda Trepka Medal of the Polish Society of Chemists and Colourists.
- Professor Schollmayer also received the Theodor-Steinkopff Prize of the German Colloid Society (Kolloid-Gesellschaft e.V.).
- The DTNW was chosen as one of the "Selected Landmarks 2009" in Germany's "Land of Ideas" initiative.
