The research achievements and international performance of the MSM can be seen in 2008 in the significantly increased number of publications in international A+/A journals. Moreover, the DFG is supporting the “Revenue Managementfor Enterprises in Strategic Alliances projectestablished and supervised by Prof. Alf Kimms; and
Prof. Torsten J. Gerpott is participating in the DFG Collaborative Research Centre 627“ Spatial World Models for Mobile Context-Aware Applications with the sub-project “Determinants of Demand of Location-based Services.
Research activities at the MSM are also receiving support in connection with around 20 ongoing projects in 2008. Outstanding examples are “Int-PEM (International Performance Measurement in the Internationalization Process of Small and Medium-Sized Logistics Companies) (Prof. Margret Borchert), “HyProDesign (Integrated Development of Hybrid Products) (Prof. Gertrud Schmitz), which are funded by the BMBF, and “Evaluation of the Possible Adoption of International Standards on Auditing (ISA) in the EU (Prof. Annette G. Köhler), which was assigned by the European Commission.
Three conferences took place at the Mercator School of Management in 2008. Two especially successful conferences were organised by theDepartment of Accounting and Finance:the 12th bank symposium “Crises and Structural Changes in the Fiscal Industry – What is theFuture of German banks? on 10/11 September and the expert conference “Compliance – Securing Legality in Companies on 25 November. Another prominent event with high-ranking professional speakers was the 11th user forum of The Data Warehousing Institute Germany, which took place on 26 September.
