Mathematics

The numerous activities and clear profile ­established by the concentration of focuses make the Faculty of Mathematics well placed to continue strengthening and extending its strongly research-oriented direction. In all of the four areas described there are open positions for professorships that will be filled in the coming months, and these appointments will add to the momentum of ongoing research activities. In the area of Analysis/Numerical Analysis/Optimization and Stochastics, the merging of the faculty in Essen opens up possibilities for introducing new courses and establishing ideal networking conditions ­between the existing research groups.
