Awards and Distinctions

Many of the researchers working within our main research area received distinctions in the reporting period. These included awards, fellowships or visiting professorships at internationally renowned institutions, and appointments to editorial boards or expert committees. Of these we would like to mention a few:

Prof. Karen Shire was Fellow in Residence at the Zentrum für Interdiszipinäre Studien at the University of Bielefeld in 2018.

Prof. Thomas Heberer was honoured at the 2018 Annual Conference of the Confucius Institutes´ Association in Chengdu.

Prof. Markus Taube held until May 2020 an honorary professorship at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan.

Prof. Jens Loenhoff received, together with Prof. Susanne Fengler (TU Dortmund) and Prof. Barbara Thomaß (Ruhr-Universität Bochum), the „Mercur-Förderpreis 2019“ for the Graduate Program „School of Internation­al and Intercultural Communication“ of the Universitätsallianz Ruhr.
