International news and EU consortium projects
Two Horizon 2020 projects that are coordinated by UDE researchers were launched in 2018:
“SEnECA – Strengthening and Energizing EU- Central Asia Relations” is a project led by Prof. Dr. Michael Kaeding (Faculty of Social Sciences) and Dr. Katrin Böttger (Director of the Institute for European Politics, Berlin).
Prof. Dr. Andreas Niederberger (Faculty of Humanities) is the coordinator of the EU consortium project “Norms and Values in the European Migration and Refugee Crisis” (NOVAMIGRA).
Furthermore, researchers from the faculties of Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Chemistry and Medicine were successful in attracting EU funding in the “Excellent Science” and “Societal Challenges” programme sections.
Nominated by Prof. Karen Shire, PhD (faculty of Social Sciences), acting Director of the Essen College of Gender Research, the internationally acclaimed British professor of sociology Sylvia Walby (City, University of London) received the Anneliese Maier Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2018. Until 2023, the scientist can carry out research cooperations with the nominator and/or peers in Germany.
