Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences consists of four institutes. The Institute of Political Science and the Institute of Sociology are the largest institutes of their kind in North Rhine-Westphalia and are also amongst the largest university institutes for political science and sociology nationwide. They are supplemented by two social science-based research institutes. The Institute for Work, Skills and Training (IAQ) conducts internationally acclaimed research on work and education, while the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) is the only German research institute working on questions at the intersection between peace and development. All four institutes are strong on research and closely connected through numerous research activities.
