Several members of the academic staff of INEF serve on a number of prestigious bodies in an advisory capacity. Particularly noteworthy examples are INEF Director Prof. Dr. Tobias Debiel, who is a member of the Advisory Council on the United Nations of the Federal Foreign Office, and of the Board of Trustees of the German Foundation for Peace Research (Deutsche Stiftung Friedensforschung, DSF). INEF Executive Director Dr. Cornelia Ulbert is a member of the DSF Scientific Advisory Council. Further INEF researchers involved in policy consulting include Angelika Spelten, who is a member of the Advisory Board for Civilian Crisis Prevention of the Federal Foreign Office, and PD Dr. Jochen Hippler, who advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and other ministries on German policy towards Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as on issues of cultural policy and dialogue between Western and Muslim societies.
