Institute for Development and Peace

The Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) is a research institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Established in 1990, it is one of just a few institutes worldwide to concentrate on questions and problems at the interface between peace and development research. It combines basic research with applied and policy-related research. The scope of topics ranges from global governance and research on fragile states, through civilian conflict management and reconstruction of post-conflict societies, to analysis of the implementation of human rights and other global norms by private actors such as corporations and private foundations.
