Consolidation of the social science profile has created the basis for closer links between social science research within the faculty’s institutes and beyond. The aim in the coming years is to undertake further comprehensive research projects on the same basis. Several new research projects are to be launched in 2009, with funding from sources such as the DFG, the Volkswagen Foundation, the Haniel Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). These projects will analyse processes of change in contemporary societies from a multidimensional perspective and with different points of emphasis.
