Business Administration and Economics
As the division of labour at national and international level continues, there is a growing need for highly developed control and analysis instruments that also take business and macroeconomic perspectives into account. Innovations in information technology are particularly important in this respect, because they make higher productivity possible and open up opportunities for improving working conditions. Tapping the potential created by globalisation and the spread of information technology, and critical analysis of the possible risks call for close cooperation between economists and IT experts – in practice as well as in academic research.
The structure of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics reflects this demand by forming an umbrella for the disciplines of Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics and Business Information Systems. Cooperation across various disciplines is supported not only by interdisciplinary research projects but also in joint teaching units. This organisational structure is unique within the German university environment and opens up diverse possibilities for pooling scientific expertise on specific issues and overcoming disciplinary fragmentation. Selected examples of collaborative research initiatives at chair and institutional level are described in the following report.
