Essen College of Gender Studies
Founded in 1998, the Essen College of Gender Studies (EKfG) is a central research institution of the University of Duisburg-Essen. The College’s purpose is to foster interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of gender research by involving all faculties in its research programme. Among the College’s unique features is the close cooperation among members of the medical faculty and their colleagues from the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, technology and engineering under the same roof. The make-up of the College with its current 35 members from seven different faculties guarantees an exceptionally high level of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary cooperation in research, as well as in supporting and promoting young researchers.
